#The Beginning
In a panic I messaged Ben, and he went to sort out the problem with the Pakistani border guards. Ben got 25 of the group over the border, but the Taliban got him. I called the High Consulate in London, not knowing what was happening to him.
The 25 that got over the border were the first to come to Australia after the fall of Kabul. They came through the Darwin quarantine as COVID-19 was also rampant they are now happily settled in Australia.
When Ben was in the Taliban jail he asked me to look after one of his friends, because she was Hazara and faced death or worse in the hands of the Taliban. I did not know what Hazara was, I also did not know I was beginning the longest and most heart-wrenching journey of my life.
Six weeks later two English Diplomats flew in and took Ben home to England. By that time I discovered the Hazara girl Shazia had helped my people get to a safe house, fed them for almost two weeks, she had protected them. I was obliged to help her. I got to know her talking through Whatsapp her family was split, her mother and youngest brother were chased out of Afghanistan. They fled into Iran and then up to Turkey where they are today. The 12-year-old boy is not allowed to go to school, and his mother is not allowed to work, so the 12 year does labouring work to support his mother. Then there is a younger sister 13 years and a 17-year-old brother, they too are not allowed to go to school. At the great age of 21, Shazia became both mother and father to her siblings.
The three siblings were hiding in a stairwell, terrified the Afghan winter freeze would kill them or they would starve to death. They had a Pakistan visa but were too scared to move. Long story short they got to Pakistan, thinking they were safe for just a moment.
The Pakistani are in sympathy with the Taliban they too hate Hazara. The females face such abuse I cannot believe anyone can treat another human being with such a lack of concern for their lives. I will go into their experiences at a later date.
Please research Hazara so you understand where ever they go they are hated in the Muslim world.
Can you imagine being abused all your life?
